The People’s ensemble of Indian dance "Sitara" was founded in 1995 on basis of the Central House of Science and Technology of the Southern Railway. There are more than 40 students in the group. The art director of the group is Olena Korzhenko. Students of the group study bases of such classical Indian styles as kathak, kuchipudi and bharatanatyam, get acquainted with folk dances of India, Bollywood dance and learn Hindi. High level of performing skills of students allow us to diversify the repertoire with interesting choreographic works. The current repertoire of the ensemble includes more than 45 compositions of classical, folk, pop and modern choreographys. The "Sitara" Dance Ensemble is the founder and organizer of the International Bole Chudiyan Indian DanceFestival. For the past six years, about 40 collectives from Ukraine and from abroad participated in the festival. The education of artistic taste, culture, familiarity with the choreographic art of India, the development of creative abilities of children – is the main aim of the ensemble.
